Greeting from the President

Greeting from the President

小野 滋 I’m honored to serve as the 26th President of the esteemed Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons. I am dedicated to preserving our traditions and ensuring a prosperous future for our children.

As we can see promising signs of the COVID-19 pandemic waning, I am committed to implementing necessary reforms to effectively respond to the evolving needs of our society.

We seek to strengthen the identity of pediatric surgery in Japan, bolstering the legacy left by our predecessors and expanding its reach. Addressing the long-noted shortage of surgeons, especially in pediatric surgery, we’ll enhance career paths for aspiring doctors. This involves improving working conditions and establishing supportive environments for pediatric surgeons. By involving young pediatric surgeons, we aim to build a cooperative and forward-looking society.

Enhancing the pediatric surgery specialist system and instituting incentives are key objectives. We will work towards a seamless transition to the new specialist system, ensuring equitable opportunities for aspiring pediatric surgeons.

Promoting high-quality pediatric surgeons nationwide and fostering exchanges among professionals are key goals. By leveraging technology and collaboration, we can create valuable systems and education programs. Our goal is to establish robust education and training programs for exceptional pediatric surgeons who will lead Japan into the future.

Adapting to the “new normal” post-COVID necessitates proactive responses to societal changes and demands, including reimagining the conventions of academic conferences and organizational management.

We will approach each challenge with diligence and urgency, soliciting input from all members of our society.

We will also collaborate with the Children and Families Agency, advocating for government action based on society’s input.

Through these efforts, we’ll advance pediatric healthcare locally and nationally.
Your support and cooperation are sincerely appreciated.
